What does a lesson with Western Australian Acting Studio consist of?
What does a lesson with Western Australian Acting Studio consist of?
I'm glad you asked.
Each lesson consists of warmup, improvisation, script breakdown, and filming.
1. Warmup. We run a couple of warmup exercises, to get your body and mind into the acting zone. These are in the form of acting games, specific for the class work for that week.
2. Improvisation. Improvisation is not only a lot of fun, and a great team building activity, but it is a great opportunity to explore your emotions, imagination, energy and character.
3. Script Breakdown. This is where we get down to the nuts and bolts about what a script is really about. We look at not only WHAT is being said, but also WHY it is being said and how the character feels about it. You will learn how to connect with the character in such a way that you can provide a more honest performance, really lifting the words off the page to provide a believable scene rather than just a recited script.
4. Filming. Working in front of a camera you will perform the scene you have been working on. Throughout the program we will explore drama, comedy, commercials, and more, so there is something for everyone. All footage will be made available to the student. An edited "show reel" showcasing your best class work will also be made available.
All students are sent links to the videos from their weekly lessons. These video links are unlisted on YouTube, and only those provided with the link are able to view them.
